The Sugar Glider, (Petaurus breviceps), an arboreal gliding possum of Australian eucalypt forests, climbs a bloodwood tree at night in search of weeping sap. Sugar Gliders vary their diet with availability, including insects, sap, nectar and lerp. They depend on hollows for breeding and communal sheltering, so are adversely affected by silviculture which reduces old trees with hollow spouts, but have survived in fragmented forest remnants, unlike other glider species.
