African wild hunting dogs (Lycaon pictus). Lycaon pictus literally means painted or ornate wolf. The fur appears to be painted with brown, red, black, yellow and white areas. They tend to prey on medium sized mammals that are twice their weight. They are found in grasslands, savannahs and open woodlands living in packs of up to 40 members.
