The Brown Bullhead Catfish (Ameiurus nebulosus) can be found in impoundments, ponds, lakes, and streams with soft bottoms from Canada to the southern United States. It is native to North America but has been introduced to many countries throughout Europe, as well as Chile, Puerto Rico, and New Zealand. The Bullhead is a bottom feeder. It will consume algae, plants, and just about any small creature that it can swallow. They thrive in warm water and can tolerate higher amounts pollution, higher carbon dioxide levels, and lower oxygen levels than most other fish species.
