Tarantula (Acanthoscurria ferina), a common terrestrial species from the Peruvian Amazon. These large spiders spend the day in burrows and emerge at night to hunt. This is a tarantula of moderate size with an average leg spread of a bit over 4 inches. Photographed in northern Amazonian Peru, off the Rio Orosa.
