Weaver Ants of the (Oecophylla sp.), Subfamily Formicinae, photographed in Bulolo, Papua New Guinea. Weaver Ants build their nests by bending leaves together and then 'stitching' the leaves together with silk produced by their own larvae. The larvae are held in the ants' mandibles and guided back and forth to form the mats of webbing.
