Common Side-blotched Lizard, Uta stansburiana, photographed on Anacapa Island, Channel Islands National Park, California. Side-blotched lizards have a bluish black blotch on each side of their chest, behind the forelimbs. The males can be distinguished by the light blue speckling on the back. This is one of the most abundant lizards in the arid and semiarid regions of the West.
