Carpet Python (Morelia spilota cheynei). This is the distinctly patterned subspecies commonly known as the 'jungle python' that occurs in the rainforests of north-eastern Australia. It grows to a length of around 3 metres. A nocturnal species, and a 'sit and wait' or ambush predator, it feeds mainly on small mammals. Speewah, North Queensland, Australia.
