The Weedy Scorpionfish, Rhinopias frondosa, is a nocturnal predator from the tropical Pacific Ocean. They inhabit tropical reef ecosystems but prefer soft bottomed habitats and like areas with some current. The weedy appearance of the species serves as camouflage, hiding these sedentary fish from potential predators. This individual was photographed in December of 2009.
