A leafcutter ant, Atta cephalotes, cuts a segment out of a leaf in the lowland rain forest of Costa Rica's Atlantic slope.It is attended by two smaller ('minima') worker caste members waiting to ride the leaf fragment back to the nest, to protect the larger worker from tiny parasitoid phorid flies.
