The Surinam Coralsnake, Micrurus surinamensis, spends a lot of time in the water chasing fish. The snake's potent venom subdues the fish, which it eats quickly. This individual was photographed on the Rio Samiria, Loreto, Peru, November 2013. Note that the old saying "Red touch yellow, kill a fellow; red touch black, OK Jack" does not apply with this species!
