Phosphorescence in desert rose barite. This mineral formation is composed of interlocking crystals of barite (or heavy spar) within softer underlying rock. Barite is composed of barium sulphate. Here the specimen glows briefly in the dark after being exposed to light. #2 of 2 in a sequence.
