The Church of St. Simeon Stylites outside Aleppo, Syria. Saint Simeon the Pillar Saint or Qala at Samaan Basilica. Saint Simeon spent 37 years living as a hermit on a pillar, now enshrined in this basilica. After centuries of erosion by pilgrims chipping away relics from the pillar, all that remains is a boulder.
