Monument to Prince Eugene at Buda Castle, the historical complex of Hungarian kings in Budapest, Hungary. It was also called the Royal Palace and Royal Castle. With other famous medieval, Baroque and 19th century houses and public buildings, Buda Castle is part of the Budapest World Heritage Site. Fran癟ois-Eug癡ne, Prince of Savoy-Carignan (1663-1736), was one of the most prominent and successful military commanders in modern European history. Over six decades, he served three Habsburg emperors, helping to save the Habsburg Empire from French conquest and liberating central Europe from 150 years of Turkish occupation.
