Laboratory of Marie and Pierre Curie. Marie Curie (1867-1934, nee Marya Sklodowska) and her husband the French physicist Pierre Curie (1859-1906) married in 1895 and worked together on the newly-discovered radioactive materials. In 1898 they isolated the radioactive elements polonium and radium. Marie won the 1911 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for this work. She and Pierre were awarded the 1903 Nobel Prize for Physics (with Becquerel) for their work on radioactivity.
