Color-enhanced Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of flat Lebanese pita bread. The pita was allowed to dry in air and then dry-fractured to reveal its internal microstructure. The outlines of wheat starch granules present in the wheat flour are clearly noticeable. This image consists of a stack of 3 micrographs focussed at different levels and then combined to form a single image. Microscope magnification: 1100x. Image width: 116.4 micrometers.
