Nanoscientists at Argonne are working on a technique to attack brain cancer cells using coin-shaped nanoparticles. These lab-grown brain cancer cells have been stained with fluorescent dyes to check for DNA damage from the experimental treatments. You can see the distribution of DNA (large green spots with yellow speckles) and RNA (bright orange spots) inside the cells. The long "tails" let cells communicate with each other. Nanotechnology (nanotech) is the manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale.
