Dodder vine, also known as love vine, (Cuscuta sp), smothering a host plant; Sanibel Island, Florida. The vine is a parasitic epiphyte and an invasive species in many areas of southern North America and the Caribbean. They smother a host plant and extract nutrition from it via adventitious roots called haustoria.
