Soda Lake is a seasonal body of water which forms at the Carrizo Plain National Monument in years with high rainfall. The lake has no outlet, causing it to become ever more alkaline by runoff from the surrounding hills. In the distance is the Temblor Mountain range as well as the San Andreas Fault which runs along the base of the mountains.
