Rooster tree, Calotropis procera, is a member of the milkweed family. This rather coarse but attractive, semiwoody shrub is native to India, Iran, amd parts of Africa, but has been introduced to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands and elsewhere where it has become more or less an invasive pest.
