A pawpaw flower (Asimina triloba) photographed in a flood plain along Colby Creek located south of Topeka, Kansas. Photo taken on 9 April 2012. The pawpaw is native to much of the southeastern United States. The leaves of the paw paw are toxic to most insects. The exception is Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly larva. The toxic chemical protects the larva and later the butterflies.
