Cabalian Bay, Republic of the Philippines, on February 20th, 2006, and the site of the massive February 17th landslide as seen from an 11 meter Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) deployed from the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). Teams were deployed to conduct a beach landing survey of the area to prepare for larger equipment deployments from the ship. Harpers Ferry and the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) provided humanitarian assistance to victims in the Saint Bernard Municipality, where the town of Guinsahugon, located in the southern part of the island, was completely devastated.
