Accurate reconstruction of a Paranthropus boisei skull. Estimated to have lived between 2.3 and 1.2 million years ago, the first fossils were discovered by Mary Leakey in 1959 at Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania. The reconstruction is based on original fossil casts, photographs and/or scientific measurements and is formed out of polyurethane resin which has a similar look and feel to real fossilized bone.
