This deep panorama of the Galactic Center of the Milky Way Galaxy is a mosaic of 88 images from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory. The region is found in the constellation Sagittarius. Permeating the region is a diffuse haze of X-ray light from gas that has been heated to millions of degrees by winds from massive young stars, explosions of dying stars, and outflows powered by the supermassive black hole seen at the center of the image. The black hole, named Sagittarius A*, is estimated to be about 27,000 light-years from Earth.
