Candiru, Vandellia cirrhosa. It's a small (10-17cm) catfish that lives on Amazonas River basin. Feeds in other fishes blood forcing itself under the gill cover and bites aorta arteries engorging the blood of the parasitized fish. Known to enter the urethra of humans urinating under water; presumably mistaking the urea for water exhausted from gills. This had never been proved to be true. From Solimo?es river and photographed in aquarium. Brazil
