Red Goshawk - female and male (Erythrotriorchis radiatus). At Mataranka, Northern Territory, Australia. Female is a powerful raptor taking prey up to Brush Turkey size. This picture shows the huge disparity in size of a large female and small male. Note females powerful legs and talons. Inhabits woodlands especially with some water and good bird populations. Found across northern and eastern coastal and sub-coastal areas of Australia but a very rare bird seldom seen and described as vulnerable and declining.
