Brow Teal / New Zealand Teal - Crtically endangered, Maori name is Pateke (Anas chlorotis). Tiritiri Matangi island near Auckland New Zealand. Once widespread numbers have been steadily declining as a result of habitat loss and predation from introduced mammals and may be as low as 1000 birds remaining. The NZ Dept of Conservation has a recovery programme involving selected captive collections across the country.
