Double page colour illustration by Mabel Lucie Attwell, depicting a bashful little girl peeping her head through a beach tent. The caption alludes to some item of her bathing suit snapping or breaking. Atwell was an immensely popular commercial artist with a career spanning more than fifty years. As well as illustrating many children's books, she illustrated advertisements, produced countless postcards and other ephemera for Valentine's of Dundee and regularly was published in the Tatler during the 1920's.
