Engraving showing the Marquis of Salisbury (1830-1903) turning on the current at the generating station, Bramley-Moore Dock, Liverpool, 4th February 1893. In the foreground of the engraving can be seen the four horizontal compound steam-engines, which powered the 4 Elwell-Parker dynamos that provided the current for the railway. The Liverpool Docks Overhead Electric Railway provided a passenger service running for seven miles through Liverpool's docks.
