Miners of the Ottoman Heraclea Collective at Kerpitchlik, Zonguldak (formerly Heraclea), a city and the capital of Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. An important coal mining centre. The discovery of coal in the region dated to the reign of Sultan Mahmud II and its extraction dated to Abdulmecid's reign.
