A Vase of Flowers. One of a number of works traditionally attributed to Osias Beerts which is too uneven in execution and too coarse in parts to be autograph. Otherwise, the motif of a bunch of fairly large blooms, filling the picture plane, the lighting and the choice of flowers (tulips, iris, crown imperial lily, love-in-a-mist, crocus, pansy, jonquil, snowdrop, roses, forget-me-not and cyclamen) is typical of Beert and some parts, notably the tulips, are quite close to his manner. It is generally believed to date from about 1616., Beert the Elder, Osias
