Emergency water supplies were vital to supplementing the available mains supply for fighting the vast swathe of fires that swept parts of London during the Blitz. These Dam Units carried a 5000 gallon collapsible dam which could be erected and filled with water in strategic locations from water supplies that might have been laid for considerable distances.
