The GLC-LFB was created on 1 April 1965. A series of photos was commissioned, showing each type of fire engine either within or absorbed into the enlarged London Fire Brigade. Here a Morris van, from the Water Section at Croydon, is shown at Brigade HQ, Lambeth. There was a Water Section for each of the three Commands, to oversee the administration and liaison with Water Companies regarding the tens of thousands of hydrants in the Brigade area.
