Portrait of King George VI by the portrait painter, Albert Collings taken from the editorial, 'marked up' copy of the Illustrated London News Special Coronation Number for the 1937 Coronation of King George VI. Collings' invoice is stuck over the portrait showing that he was paid ?178 and 10 shillings for the portrait, while a further note explains that the fee includes extra for 'alteration to the face'. Collings originally produced the painting for the Coronation of King Edward VIII but as he abdicated before his Coronation, the ILN instead asked Collings to adjust the picture, re-painting the face with that of King George VI.
