Lord and Lady Francis Scottt at the Njoro Polo Ground in Kenya. Lady Francis Scott was Lady Eileen Elliot and Lord Francis was the brother of the Duke of Buccleuch. Lord Scott had settled in Kenya in 1919 on the soldier-settlement scheme. His wife was the daughter of the former Viceroy of India, the Earl of Minto. She disapproved of Lady Idina Hay (nee Sackville, later Gordon), who was part of the infamous Happy Valley Set, finding her mode of dress and attitude, un-British and frivolous. Lord and Lady Francis Scott were the uncle and aunt of Lady Alice Scott, later the Duchess of Gloucester.
