Gazetted as Lieutenant to 3rd Royal Berkshire Regiment, later Seconded to Royal Engineers for camouflage duties. Worked Under S.J. Solomon at Special Duties Park, Wimereux. Spent much of time in the front line making studies for Observation posts.
