A front cover of the Illustrated London News, showing a mysterious footprint discovered during Eric Shipton's expedition to Mount Everest in 1951. Measuring12.5 inches in the snow, the print was believed by some to be that of a yeti, though others dispute this, believing a red bear(Ursus Arctos Isabellinus) to be the culprit; a suggestion put forward when similar prints were discovered during the 1937 expedition. For a picture of this type of bear from 1937, see picture number 10803724.
