Suffragette W.S.P.U Holiday Campaign Kent. Eight members of the Women's Social & political Union or 'Gypsy Wanderers' set off from Lincoln's Inn on 9th August 1913, 'to spread knowledge of our splendid paper 'The Suffragette' through the highways and by-ways of Kent'. The 'Gypsy Queen' was Lilly McDonnell, and the group travelled in a decorated cart pulled by a horse nicknamed 'Asquith'. They stopped in Halstead, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.
