WHITEHALL, London. A small group of people pay their respects at the Cenotaph in Whitehall which is adorned with recently placed wreaths. The memorial to the war dead was constructed by Sir Edward Lutyens in 1919-20 and was the focus for national grief after the First World War. It is still the focus for the annual Remembrance Sunday in commemoration of those who fought and died in war. Photographed by Bedford Lemere in 1921.
