Four Nieuport 17s of the French N124 Escadrille Lafayette, formed of French commanded American volunteer pilots. The squadron was formed in April 1916, and was transferred to US control in February 1918 to become the 103rd Aero Squadron. The squadron's Indian Head emblem can be seen painted on the side of the nearest machine.
