WW1 - Belgrade, Serbia - Damage from shells fired by Austrian Monitor Boats on the Danube and Sava River - July/August 1914 to houses on Knez Mihailova Street or Prince Mihailo Street, now the main pedestrian and shopping zone in Belgrade and one of the most valuable landmarks of the city. Named after Mihailo Obrenovic III, Prince of Serbia, it features a number of buildings and mansions built during the late 1870s, such as the one pictured here, which has clearly suffered a direct shell hit.
