THE WEAVERS, Canterbury, Kent. These timber-framed buildings on King's Bridge were adapted in the 17th century for the looms of the Walloon weavers. The river was needed for finishing cloth. Fulling mills were later adapted for paper-making. Photographed by Laurence Goldman in April 1960.
