Red-winged Amanita (Amanita proxima) at the edge of a path in a hardwood under Beeches (Fagus sylvatica) on a limestone hill, in summer, in September, in Picardy - France. This inedible fungus - also known as Amanita near for its possible confusion with the ovoid Amanita (Amanita ovoidea) - is a toxic and deadly species. In the background, we see in the litter the carpophore of another specimen of this same species that comes out of the ground.
