A top down view of the grey pine carpet (Thera obeliscata) resting on a fence in a garden habitat. The flight period is May to July and again in September to October with a double brood each year. This species is a member of the geometridae family and is found throughout the UK. The main larval food plant is pine. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September.
