Grey whale (Eschrichtius robustus) spyhopping. The term spyhopping refers to a whale pushing itself vertically out of the water to view its surroundings above the surface. Grey whales are found in coastal waters, migrating with the seasons from Arctic waters to tropical equatorial waters. They can grow up to 15 metres in length and weigh 16 tonnes.
