Two sides of the seal dating from the period of the English Commonwealth, inscribed on one face: 'In the third year of freedome by God's blessing restored, 1651', with a view of parliament, and on the other: 'Magnum Sigillum Reipub. Angliae Scotiae et Hyberniae', with heraldic crest. The inscription below reads: 'From a proof Impression on Wax in the Possession of the late Dutchess of Portland'.
