Cancer-induced hydrocephalus treatment. Sagittal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan through the brain of a 16-year-old girl who has been treated for hydrocephalus that resulted from a rare form of brain cancer (craniopharyngioma). This brain tumour arises from pituitary gland embryonic tissue. The consequence here was the condition hydrocephalus (also known as 'water on the brain'), an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain. Here, the fluid is being drained by a shunt (centre, near-vertical line) that has been implanted in the ventricles.
