The bridge was built 2007 to 2009 by spanish star architect Santiago Calatrava and connects Macken Street southern bank of river Liffey) with Guild Street (Northern bank of river Liffey). The bridge is open for motor traffic; bicycles and pedestrians. The constructions cites a lying harp (harp in horizontal position). She was named in honor of irish writer Samuel Beckett (1906 - 1989) who won the Nobel Prize in Literature 1969. The bridge isd the new top signature point of Dublin.
