The capitals and metopes of the tholos at Delphi in the sanctuary of Athena Pronaia. A tholos was a round temple completely encircled, in the case of Delphi, by 20 fluted colonnades and decorated with relief metopes and mouldings. Behind the temple is a flank of Mt. Parnassus.
