Jurassic rock strata are folded as a result of slumping near a continental margin during the Jurassic period. Limestone and mudstone deposits were laid down on a slope. Slope instabilities caused them to slide down the slope, which laterally compressed some layers causing the folding. Outcrop in Breccia gorge in Ticino, Switzerland.
