Optical image of Pleiades, also known as Seven Sisters or Messier 45, surrounded by faint cosmic dust clouds. M45 is the most famous open star cluster. Its bright stars can be seen without binoculars even from light-polluted cities. The nine brightest stars of the Pleiades are named for the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology: Alcyone, Merope, Sterope, Maia, Electra, Taygeta, Celaeno, and their parents: Atlas with Pleione. Imaged from Negev Desert, Israel.
